For 2020, it is more important than ever to create safe, outdoor spaces for people. Whether it's auxiliary seating for restaurants, extensions of retail space or simply outdoor seating that accommodates social distancing, PARK(ing) Day is the annual event that continues to explore the many ways we can transform our public Right of Way to better function for all users, and not just our cars. For 2020, participants were encouraged to spread out in our city and partner with local businesses that may need additional space or support. Smith Gee Studio, Crain Construction, ORI and The Cupcake Collection partnered this year to install a street-wide "parklet" that incorporates spaced out seating areas, colorful street patterns and a large 3 dimensional "DREAM" that doubles as seating and counter space. We all have aspirations, and we want to hear about dreams people have for themselves, for our neighborhoods, for our city and beyond. We are interested in learning how we can be supportive of one another and work together to accomplish common goals.
