There is an abundance of benefits when it comes to urban parks and green space. They add community value, as well as quality of life for city dwellers. Similar to other urban spaces that are primarily used for recreation, parks have a direct impact on the health of the communities they reside in. Our mini park was built to show that even in a 9 by 20 spot, communal green space makes all the difference. CDP Architecture wanted to create something for the neighborhood of 12th Avenue South that utilized short term and low-cost techniques to create long term change.

One of CDP Architecture’s many areas of expertise include creating outdoor spaces. For Parking Day 2020, our firm chose to create a mini backyard, where the community of 12th Avenue South could sit and enjoy their ice cream outside of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams. Our mini backyard features a deck-side bar with a matching pergola for shaded comfort. We added a small kiddie pool, with a poolside green space to enjoy the sunshine, as a sun deck for entertaining, cooking, and sunbathing.
