Taylor Young is a published co-author, research enthusiast, and strong advocate for public health. She has her B.S. in Agriculture from Austin Peay State University and a Masters of Public Health, concentration in Veterinary Medicine, from University of Tennessee. Taylor has always had a love for animals and their interactions with humans which led to her to the Civic Design Center. Specifically, she is interested in how companion animals factor into public health and the environment we all share. Taylor joined the Design Center in February 2018 as a Research Fellow to work on the collaborative program with Mars Petcare, BETTER CITIES FOR PETS™. Her research focuses on where public health and pet ownership intersect to create more pet-friendly cities. Taylor also handles research, writing, and all things related to grants for the organization. Taylor and her husband, Murry, enjoy exploring all that Nashville has to offer with their daughter - Vera, their dog - Walker, and their cat - Meatball.
What Taylor Does at the Design Center:
As the Research + Grants Manager for the Design Center, Taylor writes many project proposals to help secure funding for projects. Taylor’s favorite part of her job is the research aspect - she’s always reading about the latest research involving public health. You can also find her out in Nashville helping conduct research for a project whether that be for people - or pets! She loves researching ways to shape healthier communities through pet-friendly infrastructure and overseeing the Better Cities for Pets Grant.
