Ideation

No one could imagine what a better park could look like, so we designed it

We partner with University of Tennessee Knoxville, guiding and mentoring design students to use Community Design Categories when imagining the possibilities of spaces. The design students’ final projects are collected into publications in order to inspire projects that could be taken on by design firms, municipalities or neighborhood groups. Ideation can also be spurred by a new development under consideration.

For instance, when Church Street Park could have been replaced with high rise development without any community engagement, we stepped in and provided design renderings in a three part series to show what a successful public space could look like for all users. An underutilized public space does not have to equate elimination of a public resource. With just the right amount of ideation, inspiration and investment, we can design something that everyone in the community wants to use.
