More about the Civic Advocates Book Club
This will be a part of a yearlong effort to dive deeper into our Guiding Principles for Civic Design!
Each quarter, we will seek a volunteer to write a blog summarizing the book and the virtual discussion which will be posted on the website a week following the meeting. Even if you don’t have time to read the book and attend the conversation, you can still engage.
While You Read
Consider the Guiding Principles Pillar Theme for the quarter: Preservation
Identify 1-3 challenges that your community faces under the specific Pillar
Identify 1-3 precedents from the book for how to work towards achieving goals related the the corresponding Principles in your community
Advocacy Work
Following the Preservation theme book club, we will break out into small groups to discuss current events related to the associated Principles and whether or not there are actions we can take to work towards achieving any goals. If the group doesn’t know about any current events related to the Principle, they may spend the time researching around the topic to report back to the group.
